Three Accounts of Anomalous Clouds

The following accounts are taken from the book Abduction by Jenny Randles.

"Sitting on the truck's tailboard Dawn first became aware of a strange feeling: 'I was icy cold and it was a hot day. We all felt the same. Then I felt that something was touching me. The Gurkha said he felt it too.' The colonel was in charge of other travelers in the convoy (including two Plymouth Brethren) and ran to the front of the truck. As he did so, he crashed to the ground as if felled. This pressure in the air was now causing the vehicles to vibrate. Dawn jumped to the rescue of her husband, who was dazed and winded. It was then that she realised that the Gurkha and villagers were staring at something sweeping towards them. 'It was a strange blurred object... It looked like a grey, floating mass slightly above the surface but definitely moving.'
By now the villagers had fled but Dawn was mesmerised by the object, which went around the back of the truck as if inspecting it. In size it was 'as big as a large house,' and then it changed shape: 'It wasn't a hard object. It was sort of woolly edged. It seemed to be solid in the middle but the outside seemed like vapour.' It was basically round but unlike nything she had seen before. She remembers in a sort of frozen tableau the faces of the soldiers struck dumb by fear. The thing just hovered beside them and was now so solid '...that I expected a door to open and the driver to get out.' This did not happen. Instead there was a manifestation of the Oz Factor. Everything went extremely quiet. Time stood still.
The next thing Dawn remembers is picking her husband up off the ground, with the object no longer in sight. The villagers refused to talk about it. The soldiers were silent for hours. Eventually, in a state of shock and by mutual consent, the entire group decided to return to Nepal."

As if this experience was not enough, Dawn had an even more terrifying encounter in October 1981. She had gone on holiday to Scotland as part of a Christian group and decided to visit the Isle of Mull. Two Americans named Dwight and Geraldine went with her. They hired a car and Dwight drove. After taking the ferry, they toured around a bit and then decided to explore Tobermory, the main town. They were on a remote mountain road in the midst of the island surrounded by the Salen Forest and with heather-clad hills inland and the sea to the north. It was a fine sunny day, and Dwight wanted to take some photographs, so they slowed to a stop. As they did so, a mist began to congregate around the car, thickening and solidifying. With it came a heavy pressure. Dwight, who was no scared rabbit, yelled and jumped back. Both he and his wife ducked below the windscreen, burying their heads in their hands. The car began to vibrate.
Dawn was more composed. She had the advantage of having been through this before and was determined to see more of it this time. As the object became black and now totally enveloped the front of the car, she would see something vague moving inside it. 'This was different from Tibet. There was this blurred silver shape, like a thing or person, I don't know. But it was moving. I shouted to the others to look up, but they didn't. Then it - ah - disappeared.

The following account is from the book Confrontations by Jacques Vallee

"It read like a front-page story in a supermarket tabloid or a chapter in the more sensational books about UFO abductions: a women driving along a city street in Redding, California, with her two daughters and another girl had been frightened by a sudden burst of smoke that enveloped her station wagon. All sound seemed to stop around them as they floated along inside this cloud. In alarm, they went to a friend's house and found that they were missing an interval of thirty minutes, during which they could not account for their activities. They suffered various physiological reactions over the following hours, and the next day strange puncturelike spots appeared on the skin of the two girls, who dreamed of men holding various weapons that were pointed at their heads.
The event had taken place between 9:05pm and 10:10pm on Wednesday, May 7, 1980
